Sunday In The Park By: Bel Kaufman

"Sunday In The Park" takes place in the park on a late afternoon. The woman, her husband Morton, and her son Larry were enjoying their time at the park, until a chubby boy named Joe threw sand at Larry. At first Larry's mother didn't say anything to Joe, hoping that Larry would learn how to take care of his own battles; and thinking that Joe wouldn't do it again. But Joe didn't stop but continued throwing sand at Larry, so Larry's mother told Joe not to do that again. Joe's father siting on the other side of the bench reading a comic book, encouraged his son to do what he wanted. Morton, Larry's father wanted to discuss about the problem that Joe was creating and how dangerous it could be. But Joe's father would not listen nor let Larry's father talk about the situation; as a matter a fact Joe's father wanted to have a physical fight than discussing it. Morton and his wife decided to leave the park before the problem get worst. On their way home, Larry's mother was upset at Larry for not standing up for himself, and also was mad at her husband because he wanted to discipline Larry by attempting to hit him because he won't stop crying, and still wanted to play at the park.
